20 - Whitehaven 26 Havens defence was outstanding as the home side enjoyed bags of possession. Carl Rudd crossed in the fourth minuteadding the conversion for good measure. David Seeds and Simon Baldwin both kept out two almost tries from the Fax. Calvert intercepted a pass and sped away to put Haven 12-0 ahead. A Holroyd cross-field kick was spilled by Calvert and sub Damian Ball touched down. Ball was causing plenty of problems in the Haven defence, and he was soon in for his second try. Holroyds second conversion handed Fax a 16-12 interval lead. In the second half Haven could easily have caved in. But they produced another bout of marvellous defence, and on 55 minutes, the momentum turned in their favour after the hosts fumbled a Rudd bomb on their own line. Sub Howard Hill steamed on to Carl Sices dummy-half pass to cross. Rudd converted and followed up with a penalty goal after he had suffered a high tackle. Four points ahead, Haven put the issue beyond doubt on 67 minutes. when Seds scored out wide. Rudd again added the extras. Holroyd crossed in the final minute, following a rampaging run from Frank Watene. But it was too late.
