A crowd of just over 2,000 saw a mixed game in which neither side shone brightly, although Haven did dominate throughout. Haven were able to break a plodding staslemate in the first half after Mossop was siun binned giving the home side a boost. Leroy Joe created the opening for Man of the Match Howard Hill to power over.. Rudd converted. The first half score was boosted when Hill started a drive that ended with Derry Eilbeck generously passing Craig Calvert through to make it 10-0 at the interval.
Sice touch down!

Eilbeck proved well up to the task when he made a vital try breaking tackle as nippy James Coyles looked certain to score for Wigan. Ricky Wright then got on the scoresheet thanks to a ball fed by Lester. Rudd converted to make the score 16-0.
Thornley almost made a swift break through but once again the Haven line was unbreached. Almost as soon as Sice comes on he instantly has to get a try and today was no exception. Soon after Rudd compensated for weak kicking by scoring a try as four Wigna players had him by the try line but they failed to hold Rudd up and he made sure the ball was grounded. That unstoppable Mr Sice grabbed a late extra which was converted just before the hooter.

Much discussion before this game over how strong a team Wigan should have fielded. Statement from Wigan: "Most of the first team have already featured in the fixtures at Huddersfield and Salford and with the big kick off less than a week away the squad for Sunday's game is a mixture of academy and first team players. Brian Noble admitted after Salford that he had decided on the main skeleton of the side that would face Warrington next Friday in the big kick off, but there were still one or two places up for grabs and would be decided after this weekend. Wigan have included in their 18 man squad for the trip to Cumbria, Joel Tomkins, Danny Hill, Darrell Goulding and Mark Flanagan.
