Clammy wet weather
generated plenty of dropped balls and fluffed passes for both
sides in this fairly slender home win. Trindall enjoyed a more
forceful game and opened the scoring. Rudd converted. But within
ten minutes Leaf replied for the Dons and the scoreline of 6-6
reflected the lack of game breaking plans from either side.
Leroy Joe and Craig Calvert did their classic one-two with a
well placed kick to corner for the winger to catch and touch
down. Rudd converted from wide to leave the half-time score 12-6.
In the second half
Leafa threw away an open way through after Neil Baines made one
of his successful bulldozer break throughs.
Rudd kicked a penalty
to help the home side put some space between the sides. The Haven
stalwarts of Fatialofa and Leroy Joe then threw the Dons defences
aside to give Calvert a clear run through to make if 18-6. Rudd
again kicked brilliantly to convert as he did after David Seeds
took the game to the Kells End and generated a penalty.
