Great showing by Aaron
Smith at the Halton Stadium but Haven were unlucky to trail
14-6 at the break. Talk of the game was an overall 18-5 penalty
count against Haven.
Haven tries came from
Steve Maden, thanks to a Duffy kick to corner. Rudd converted.
Of course it was our
old friend Nanyn who then scored for Widnes.
He strolled over unopposed
after Haven were caught short of numbers on their right side.
At one point Scott
McAvoy was held up over the Vikings’ try line.
But Widnes scored twice
in three minutes in the closing moments of the half, as Haven
started to suffer a little in the heat. Nanyn kicked a Widnes
penalty and Sice was also sin binned.
Nanyn landed another
penalty, and Aussie winger Damien Blanch ensured his debut by
touching down Nanyn adding the extras.
Consolation for Haven
was for Eilbeck to score and Rudd convert.
