Second Half Wobble but a well earned win
Haven 38- 24 Rochdale
April 17 2006

Injury scare as Scott McAvoy helped off

The first half score of 24-0 is deceptive as Rochdale were a big, often fast moving side that could just have given Haven a problem after Marc Jackson was red carded for a blatant attack on a man down. Luckily the rest of the Haven squad earned their spurs with Rudd kicking to perfection, including converting one of his own tries. For many he was M of the Match, but the official M of M was the equally deserving John Duffy. He like Leroy Joe seemed to be everywhere all the time both in attack and defence. Once again Sice proved he could slice through any defence like a knife through butter.

One of the truly inspiring points in this exciting fixture (Gate of 2,000 plus) came when in the closing minutes of the first half play maker Duffy passed to Rob Jackson who moved it on to Eilbeck who quick fire passed it back up the line to a flying Howard Hill. As well as Jackson's stupid fisting the macth also saw a Haven player headbutted and a mini-brawl in the closing minutes of the first half. Yellow cards were dished out to Rob Jackson and Richard Vorbulis over this spat.
Tries: Sice , Rudd , Maden (2) Eilbeck, Hill
Conversions: Rudd; 6 plus one penalty.

Squad: Broadbent, Eilbeck, Seeds, Rob Jackson, Steve Maden, Leroy Joe, J.Duffy, McKinney, Sice, Trindall, McAvoy, Hill, Rudd. Subs Marc Jakcosn, Chem and Baines
