The first half ended 6-12 to the visitors as Town had a more fluid style. The scores were stalemated at 12-12 for the opening half of the second spell.
Mattinson, who gained the Man of Match award opened the scoring and Marc Jackson converted while Town responded with a try from Jack Bedley, converted by Carl Forber. Town then went over again as ex-Haven's Neil 'Gus' Frazer scored. Forber again converted. Before a crowd of 1,300 Mattinson missed a chance to feed to three men waiting on the wing and soon after John Patrick dropped the ball just yards from the open line. Eventually Leroy Joe was able to set up John Patrick as Haven started to make inroads into a Town side that looked on the verge of a shock win. McNally converted Patrick's try and a penalty from McNally gave Haven a slender lead. Then Calvert and McNally wrapped it up with McNally converting both late tries.
