Doncaster 20, Whitehaven
30
Sunday July 31
Tries: Hill , Calvert, Penny(3)
Conversions: O'Neill (5)
Joel Penny was the
hero of this encounter. He grabbed a hat-trick of tries to inspire
Whitehaven to a crucial victory against the Dons.
Haven needed this win
to erase the sour taste of their hammering at Fax.
Scoring first for Haven,
Howard Hill forced his way over after latching on to a short
pass from Carl Sice .
Paul ONeills
conversion put Haven in front and their lead was never
seriously threatened, despite Doncasters best efforts,
for the rest of the match.
Hill, Summers and David
Fatialofa held back the Doncaster pack.
Leroy Joe created the
break that sent Craig Calvert sprinting over in the corner to
give Haven a 12-4 interval lead.
Graham Holroyd and
Lee Harland teamed up to give Doncaster a try.
But Penny would not
be denied and kept finding ways through to score three tries.
To their credit Doncaster
battled to the finish but the score was true to the worthy winners.
