 The Parting Gift

The Parting Gift remembers the loss of life in the Wellington Pit disaster at Whitehaven on May 11th 1910.

Frank and Martha with their two young children emigrate to Bisbee, Arizona in 1910. Frank finds employment in a Bisbee copper mine. While they are in Bisbee they receive news that there has been a gas explosion at the Wellington Pit. One of the casualties is Nathan, Frank's younger brother. The pit is sealed. In October 1910 Frank and Martha return to Whitehaven as the pit is reopened, in time for Frank to enter the pit and find and identify Nathan's remains.


 
Frank and Martha receive the terrible news that there has been gas explosion at Wellington Pit with 136 casualties including Frank's brother Nathan.
 

 The Cumbrian Macbeth

Either - The Missing Scene - Lady Macbeth confronts Macbeth about all the blood that is being shed in the kingdom. An argument ensues in which Macbeth learns of Lady Macbeth’s true relationship with Duncan. Before the scene ends with Macbeth’s death at the hands of Macduff and Malcolm’s coronation at Scone. Lady Macbeth performs ‘Oot, oot damn spot’ and Macbeth, ‘Tehmorreh, end Tehmorreh end Tehmorreh’.
