Leigh in the rather Fetching shade of Light Blue!

Haven 35-(18-12)18 Leigh

Jacko gives them hell in the first half

Touchdown by Morton ? that broke them in first half
When David Seeds powered over in the first three minutes Haven made it plane they were serious about dealing with visiting Leigh in the Buddies National Cup encounter.
Second half as Haven held just a yard from try line..Howard ready..soon after he scored.

Garry Morton gave Haven their second and Seeds got a hand to a kick into the very corner to give the home side a cushion at half-time. In the second half Tony Cunningham came on and enjoyed his first Haven try. Leigh responded thanks to Bristow and for an awful five minutes in the middle of the second half Haven's defences suddenly looked to be loosing their grip. But the Kells End went wild as the heat was turned up again on the visitors and Leigh Smith scored in the right corner. Kirkbride who kicked every conversion perfectly then added the bonus drop goal point. Just a minute from the hooter Howard Hill, who played a key role in marshalling the defences when they had hesitated, had his reward in a fine try to cap it all. B and H Motors Man of the Match was the Big Fella... Warren Stevens.
Two Haven extra tries in the first half were also disallowed...one when Leigh Smith was called back having sprinted from the half way line...he didn't hear any whistle from the ref. and neither did the fans. The other when Marc Jackson took a penalty two yards out too quickly for the ref.
O'Neil, Wallace, Seeds, Hill, L.Smith, Joe, Kirkbride, Cox (Cunningham), Jackson, Stevens (Cox), Vaughan (G.Smith), Morton (Purdham), Lester.
