Huddersfield -Haven's second
half Fightback
By the Marra
Date: 6/1/2002
Haven 12 (0-12)12 Huddersfield
The come back Kings warmed the cockles of the hearts of the Haven
fans. A Haven side crafted from local talent had the Giants on
the run throughout the final 30 minutes.
It took real guts for the Haven
lads to hang grimly on in a first half that saw the Huddersfield
Giants ever threateneing to run away with the game. O'Hare scored
for the visitors in first ten minutes. This was followed by a
two penalties and then just before half-time a second try from
March.
Any other team would have buckled under a 0-12 scoreline at half-time.
But Haven were fantastic. Garry
Purdham kept up a relentless tackling rate and the Leroy and
Seeds combination would not back down until Seeds drove through
to make the try that injected fresh adrenalin into the team and
fans.
Marc Jackson has recovered all his dynamism. O'Neill kicked both
vital conversion. The first for Seeds try and then the real match
winner as Leroy Joe created for Lester to dig and dive across
close to the posts as Haven put the Tired Giants under the cosh.
Fortunately two attepts to snatch a drop goal win failed for
Huddersfield... and to make the Haven inner glow even warmed..news
that Town were beaten by Batley...
Awe inspiring come back...a team of full time professional from
the Super League met their match at the Recreation Ground.
Everytime Seedsy touched the ball he was a threat.
Rob Purdham has already sent his praises from Down Under . Attendance
was sadly only 1,400...come on Haven fans give these lads the
support they have earned. |
