Haven 50 - Dewsbury Celtic o

Dewsbury Celtic never troubled the home side from the moment Leigh Smith marked his first gamed since rejoing Haven with a try. The bigger challenge comes away to Fetherstone next week.

A LARGELY uneventful game in which Whitehaven did what they had to. Dewsbury never troubled the home side from the moment Leigh Smith marked his first game since rejoing Haven with a try.
Smith grabbed a hat-trick before the final hooter and there were tries for Howard Hill, Mark Cox, Garry Purdham and Darren King. The game was one for the die hards, with neither Whitehaven nor Celtic doing anything to special and nothing of note happening at all really. The home fans could have expected a comfortable win and that was what they got, the Smith hat trick and the clean sheet was a bonus, as was the encouraging displays from King, Dean Burgess and Ryan Campbell.
For the record Marc Jackson was Man of the Match. Wesley Wilson, Aaron Lester, Chris McKinney and Dean Vaughan all got a rest this week, ready for the tough trip to Featherstone next week.
Haven; O'Neil, Wallace, Seeds, Hill, L Smith, Joe, Kirkbride, Cox, Jackson, Sherwen, Miller, Morton, Purdham. Subs (all used) King, Burgess, Campbell, Cunningham.
