Huddersfield 86-10 Whitehaven

The Giants, former SL leaders of the NFP, gained revenge against Whitehaven, who held them to a 12-12 draw in January.That was the only Premiership point that the Giants have lost this season.

Whitehaven were early scorers in the first half with Rob Jackson and Arron Lester scoring tries and Paul O'Neil landing goals. But after their early flourish they were completely outclassed.The home side were totally in control registering 15 tries.

Top try scorer for the Giants was Stanley Gene who grabbed four touchdowns and hat-tricks were scored by centre Eorl Crabtree and winger Matt Whittaker. Other try scorers were Hefin O'Hare, Darren Turner, David Atkins, Chris Molyneux and Andy Rice.Skipper and loose-forward Steve McNamara landed 13 goals.

The name Paul Salmon will be remembered from this defeat. Leroy Joe was absent and although Whitehaven opened the scoring through Howard Hill (converted by Paul O'Neil) they never got into the swing againt Barrow. Marc Jackson also took a try that reflected his unquestionable commitment. Haven were:O'Neil, C.Campbell, Miller, Hill, Wallace, Lupton, Kiddie, Cox, Jackson, Stevens, McKinney,Morton, Vaughan, Kirkbride, R.Campbell, L.Smith and Cunningham.

Haven's third away defeat in a row...Whitehaven tries from Wallace, Ryan Campbell, Leigh Smith and Steve Kirkbride. All four converted by Kirkbride.

Leigh wiped out a 12-point deficit to beat Whitehaven 52-24. After blazing into a 12-0 lead inside four minutes, Leigh were stopped dead as Haven took control of the first half and scored four converted tries.
But the second half saw the visitors collapse and Adam Bristow put Leigh back in the hunt with a 39th-minute touchdown, before four second-half tries from Andy Isherwood carried Leigh to a comprehensive victory. That man Turley finished with 20 points from eight goals and a try.
