Hunslet beaten
By the Marra
Date: 22/4/2001
Haven 50(10-6)10 Hunslet
For a side that has so many players off injured Haven have started
to repay Coach Cullen's efforts. In rain and mud they shook off
a slow first half to come strong and finish with a 50-10 scoreline.
Garry Purdham was welcome back and instrumental in feeding to
Aaron Lester for a try.
While Barrow almost fell to
lowly Gateshead, Haven keep racking up wins. Tries came from
Leroy Joe, Hill (2)Lester (3), O'Neil (2), Mark Wallace. O'Neil
was goal kicker making the conversions.
Everyone agrees Haven were a damp squib in the first half, apart
from a try from Leroy Joe. But once they gauged the depth of
the mud they got the points on the board.
Once again it was that man Howard Hill who provided the important
turn-around try. O'Neil converted before the half-way hooter
and a wake up talk from Coach Cullen.
Hill again started the rout in the second half. Thereafter Haven
dominated attack as well as defence with tries from Man of the
Match Lester (3)and O'Neill (2).
Haven: O'Neil, Wignall, Seeds, Hill, Wallace, Kiddie, Joe, Cox,
Lester, Vaughan, Smith, Devlin, Miller, Kirkbride, R. and G.
Purdham, Sherwen.
