Gateshead again
By the Marra
Date: 12/3/2001
Gateshead 4- 23 Whitehaven
Haven got within three points of Town at the weekend after Town
bombed and Whitehaven had a predictable win away in Geordie land.
Fats was on the bench much of the game saving his strengths for
Oldham.
Not quite as decisive as the
recent cup thrashing, but the main thing at the moment is staying
on the winning roll. And it certainly wasn't the Ceefax faulty
score of 23-4 to Gateshead!
Having Aaron as stand-off seems to inject greater creativity,
with Jackson solid in the number 9 shirt. Gateshead had shown
earlier in the week against Widnes that things had changed somewhat
from the cup fixture.
Nippy Wignall again touchdown in the corner for the first try,
which Jacko converted.
Just before the turn round that man Joe powered through to score.
In the second half Aaron scored twice, either side of Thunder's
consolation try from Dyson.
The squad: O'Neill, Wignall,
Seeds, Hill, Campbell, Lester, Joe, Cox, Jackson, Vaughan, Miller,
Sherwen, G.Purdham. Subs R.Purdham, Campbell, Smith, Fatialofa.
