Rams go home with Tails Down

Haven 27-2 Dewsbury Rams
By the Marra
Date: 9/12/2001

Cullen was chewing his gum just like Ferguson and like Ferguson he knows how to inspire...The boys gave the Haven fans reasons to be cheerful...final score 27-2...
The show goes on...Dewsbury had something of a wasted journey over the Pennines as Haven were strong in both attack and defence before a lusty 1,200 turn out for the Home season opener.

Wes Wilson was the laal touch of genius in the first half. He kept nipping through the cracks in the Ram's defences. He was Marr's MoM for the first half. Aaron Lester continues his top form and McKinney showed inspiring touches throughout both halves.
The only lapses were over eager defending giving away three penalties in the opening half hour. Luckily for Haven their kicker was well off colour, unlike O'Neill who was rock solid. Wes Scored the first try, converted by O'Neill. Haven low but precise passing was spot on to allow Rob Purdham the second touch down. Again converted for a 12-0 scoreline. McKinney was sin binned and allowed the Rams their consolation 2 points just before the interval.
In the second half pressure was maintained by Haven until the fans were able to scream their appreciation as Leroy Joe drove in at the kells End. O'Neill converted again.

The Rams were wilting by now and soon after Seeds became airborne to make a try in the corner and O'Neill kicked a tricky conversion. To add that little touch of icing on the cake Rob Purdham casually kicked a neat drop goal to make it 27-2 at the hooter.

And finally, we now know what spurs on the lads to play better and better...the Haven Cheerleaders....
